3 Ways to insert images

Postby Peterk on Wed Nov 28, 2007 1:46 pm

don't know if everyone is aware but rather than pasting an image into a posting you can use the link just below where the messages are typed. this places a thumbnail image link into the message that when one clicks on it will take you to website that hosts the imageImage

just click on the "add image to post" link (see the embedded screen shot) directly below the text area. This will invoke ImagePoster.com, a partner of FreeForums. You can then browse to the filename on your harddrive, and upload the image. It will generate the thumbnail, and let you enter a title.

If you have images at another site, you can also insert that image here. Hit the "Img" button on the right top, and it will let you put in the address where the image resides on the web. Then hit the "Img" button again to close the link. This allows the image to be displayed, although it does not actually reside on the FreeForums site (saves in our quota of attachment space). Be aware though, that if that image is taken off the site being pointed to, it will disappear here as well. (ONLY point to images you control. I know people who pointed to an avatar on another site, and then someone changed that image to Porn!)

Of course, the third method is to simply upload the image in the FILENAME section below. This uploads the image to FreeForums. (Again, too many images can cause slow load times for people using the Forum. Try to keep the number of images to the photo sub-Forum, or clearly say Photo in the first topic subject so people have a warning.) - Jerry

Peter,

After this has been here a couple of days, I will probably move it to the TIPS sub-Forum, and change the title to Inserting a Link to an Image (instead of "Just a suggestion").

You might want to edit it a little, to explain inserting a link to an existing image on the web and thumbnails, versus inserting an image that is not on the web anywhere.
