Here's a tip on posting long URL's

Postby MikeM on Sun Jan 20, 2008 12:30 pm

Here's a quick way to deal with posting long URL links. Once you've done it a couple times, it's really quite easy.

In the example, I will substitute { for [ and } for ]. When you actually try it use the [ and the] .

Simply type the following format:

{url=www.cnn.com}type what you want seen such as Link to CNN{/url}

Don't add any spaces before or after the brackets or the = sign.

When you do this substituting the correct brackets, it will post like this!

Link to CNN

Hope this is helpful!

the methodology provided by Mike does work, but you can also use online services such as the following

shrinkster.com

tinyurl.com (and you can add it to your browser toolbar such that when you click on it, it automatically creates the tinyurl for you

snipurl.com (you can also add it to your toolbar)

http://www.shorturl.com/

http://shorl.com/

http://makeashorterlink.com/

Mike,

I will leave this here for a number of days, so that people can see it. Then I will move it to the "Tips" sub-Forum.
