Major General Charles R. Bond

Native Dallasite MG Charles R. Bond recently passed away. He was a true Dallas Hero who had a distinguished Military career spanning from when he joined the Texas National Guard in 1932 to when he Retired from the USAF in August of 1968. He is best known for being a member of the AVG (American Volunteer Group) "Flying Tigers" where he served with fellow Texan, David L. (Tex) Hill (who passed away a year or so ago). General Bond was credited with shooting down 9 Japanese planes while a member of the AVG.........He was Commander of James Connally AFB at Waco when he retired in 1968....RIP...Bill Strouse
