THE BEST CFS IN DALLAS!!!! FINALLY!

Postby JOHN FINLEY on Sun May 17, 2009 11:55 am

In my opinion, it's the cowboy style chicken fried steak from Matt's Rancho Martinez in Lakewood. I took mom there for a break from the Swiss Avenue tour. It was so good, I wanted to slap her. Every thing about it was perfect. The breading, the chili, the cheese, and the onions. The unique thing about it was that the steak was cooked in a pan, not a deep fryer. So, the steak tasted like it came from mom, not Denny's. I tried Celebration's CFS last week too, and I was NOT impressed. However, I might have to try Matt's regular CFS at another time to see if they're still the best.

John... It's 11:30 pm here and just reading your posting has my stomach growling!

CFS, chili, cheese, onions, etc., ....

I wont be driving to Dallas to try Matt's, but I may have to find a local place here in Grapevine that might come close to that combination.

Hahahaha! It was so glutonous (sp), but I enjoyed it. Fred, I hope you found a good one. Don't you live in Grapvine? What's a good place to eat at on the square (or in town) that's not a large chain, and not too expensive? I saw an oyster house on my way to the doctor (in downtown). I started thinking to myself, "really, an oyster house?" "In Grapevine?!?!?!" How froo-froo can you get? However, I applaud the owners for keeping the historic facade.

John, I seldom go to the center of Grapevine, since I live in South Grapevine just a couple of long blocks from Colleyville. (Although I did have to go last Thursday for jury duty in municipal court).

There are tons of restaurants in Grapevine, but I can only recommend three that I particularly have liked. Most of the others here are franchise types.

Esparza's Restaurante Mexicano (it's an old funeral home and has food that is excelante!!) It's on Worth St.

Wilhoites, right on the West side of Main St. in the historic district. Varied menu but good food.

Outback Steakhouse, not in the city but East on 114 from the 121 intersect. Only Outback I've been to but great food.

If you favor Mexican food, I suggest you try Esparza's.
