Railroad spike by Neiman Marcus

Postby Dennis H on Thu Aug 06, 2009 9:51 pm

I received a conversation piece in the mail yesterday.
An older acquaintance of mine has been cleaning his collection of "stuff" from over the years. He sent me gilded railroad spike with a note stating it came from the University Park Cotton Belt station (at Lovers Lane) and was sold or given away by Neiman Marcus!

Now THAT is neat. I have a spike from the Virginia & Trukee, sent by a guy who lives right next to the (abandoned) ROW, and picked up from it. Apparently there are a lot of spikes that weren't picked up when they pulled them to allow removal of the rails when the line wa finally abandoned.
