Re-opening of the El Capitan Hotel (Van Horn)

Postby Dennis H on Sun Sep 20, 2009 9:35 am

The El Capitan in Van Horn recently came back to life as a hotel. It had been a
bank for the last several years. The hotel is noted for its regional
architectural style by the firm of Trost & Trost in El Paso.

Wow, this is great news Steve. Thanks for the posting. I wasn't even aware they were working on the hotel.
Hotel Paisano in Marfa was also designed by Trost & Trost and like the El Capitan it has been updated and remodeled. We stayed there in 2006 and it was incredible even though it has no elevator.
We've also stayed in the Holland Hotel in Alpine, another historic Trost & Trost creation. Of the two I'd recommend the Paisano.
Now we have another place to stay when we venture west.
Thanks again Steve. You made my day.
