Prayer Requests

Everybody here is an adult, or expected to act like it. Religion can be a touchy subject, but if you can't take any honest discussion at all on what you believe, maybe you should re-evaluate your beliefs? An area to discuss such beliefs, thoughts, opinions and religious based news.

Prayer Requests

Postby Cedar on Tue Jan 27, 2009 7:02 pm

I thought that it might be a good thing to have a section here in which we could post needs to be lifted up ~ as generally or anonymously or specifically as one might wish them to be. Things go better with prayer ....

I'll begin. Would anyone who reads and feels led please pray for two friends of mine? One seeks employment or compensation for work, and another is ill and needs healing. Also, I am seeking a clear vocational direction, myself.

Thank you.

Excuse me if I'm intruding on personal space here.

Holly,

I don't pray, per se, but I believe that everyone has inside them the potential to lift themselves up, to improve, to understand the blessings they enjoy, and to be at peace with the world.

All;

I found out this weekend that my younger sister is going blind. Apparently, her optic nerves are being pinched between the vertabra of her spine; she has lot vision in her left eye, and has blurred vision in her right eye. The doctors are supposed to evaluating what to do this week; please pray for God's hand upon the doctor's helping her, and for complete healing.

It will probably be reversible, and my RN wife feels like it will be reversible; but it is one more thing for my dad to worry about. Mom has been in a nursing home for a year and a half now since suffering a stroke; and this is all taking a toll on him. So please lift him up in your prayers as well. Thanks!

My nephew, Eric, is a captain in the US Army ... now serving in Afghanistan after two tours in Iraq. Prayers for him and the many others putting their lives on the line over there would be much-appreciated.

Eric has a wife and three children.

Also, my little one is home sick with a lingering cough and cold. She had an earache last night but that's better, now.

I know kids pass through these viral illnesses as a matter of course, but prayers would be appreciated. And prayers for my daughter's eye, too ... which is an ongoing concern.

Beginning tomorrow and extending through the week, many of the schoolchildren across our state will be taking the TAKS test. Our school will be testing as well. It would be wonderful if prayers could be offered for the kiddos as they tend to feel much pressure at this time. Thanks very much.

All;

My daughter is about to go in to have an emergency c-section done. She was running a mild fever last night; and while the baby has a pulse, is otherwise not responding. The doctor has already warned her there may be neurological damage.

Holly; I don’t know about the ‘Second Sight’ stuff you posted on the Genealogy board. But, I did see something when I woke up early a few nights ago. It was small, and I could not make it out very well; I used to have night terrors at one point when I was growing up, and would see faces in the furniture in my bedroom when it occurred. I thought it was another episode of that; but did remember what you wrote when I was praying during the night, and asked God to stay the hand of the death angel, and dispatch a ministering angel in his place to touch them instead. I felt a release about the whole thing about 3:23 this morning. But still, your prayers are desired, and I thank you in advance.

But then, I remembered that an ambulance and fire truck was also at the next door neighbor’s house a night or two later. I have no idea why, but I realized I never prayed about that situation either. So I did; all I know is that there are things going on in the spiritual realm that I don’t understand, but know that we can intercede with our prayers; something I guess the Scots of the time didn’t always realize.

James, I read the praises section first and missed your initial post. So thankful that babe and mom came through. Praise the Lord :!:

What you wrote concerning 'forewarnings' -- needs of which we are unaware but which the Holy Spirit does anticipate and desires for us to pray -- is such a deep and true understanding. I am reminded how important it is to remain 'listening' and in communion with God. Thanks.

And you are right, too. The 'impressions' which were familiar to some of the Scots might -- then or now -- be lifted up to the Lord in prayer ... rather than being borne with a sense of doom. For me, there have been symbols or impressions which make little sense in the present, but come clear after an event takes place.

Pray, pray, pray.

I know that some may not like this, but it was not till I began praying the Rosary that I have been able to intercede in any adequate way. 'Tis a blessing to a disorderly mind like my own.

Scott Dorn

Postby MickeyDal on Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:22 pm

Guys,

Please include Scott Dorn in your prayers, he was laid off by Wolf Camera (who is filing for Chapter 11, I understand) and has been searching for a while. Some part-time/weekend gigs, but needs a regular job.)

Re: Prayer Requests

Postby Sharon Marsalis on Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:31 pm

I am coming here to ask for prayer but first I assume Em is doing well and that Holly is busy as Ronnie says "building her spaceship." So praises !!
James, how is your sister-- and her eyes? I have been wondering. and your parents??

Our son's son is due any day--actually today was the forecast date but..... His name will be Joshua.

Now for the heart breaker request:

Eleanor who looks like a very thin Botticelli angel is the almost 10 year old daughter of one of our fellow Sunday School class members. She has suffered from osteo sarcoma of the upper left arm and had part of the bone removed with a prosthesis implanted to grow as she grows. She has battled the cancer with chemo etc for a couple years now.

Two weeks ago we were informed of a continual pain and swelling in her arm. She was hospitalized to treat the "infection" and put through scans etc.

I received word today that the cancer has reappeared higher in an area with much less tissue. The doctors have decided her arm must be removed to continue fighting the cancer with more rounds of chemo to follow. The surgery is tomorrow with about a 5 day stay followed by more continued chemo.

James , please also ask your church to pray!!!
