Oh yes for those of you who have photoshop it helps to resize the image there first, otherwise use imageshack to resize it.
P.M me if you need a walk through on that.

I can't go to image shack........my company's server won't allow anything like that...it's okay though. I'll find a way, or if it's important enough, send it to someone. In a few, I'll have my Texas Pics ready. It's just a matter of my mom learning how to get them off of her camera, then e-mailing them to me.

suggestion for photos

Postby Peterk on Mon Mar 26, 2007 4:38 pm

Consider putting the address for the building with the posting. makes it easier to use google maps to locate the building. should provide street address and zipcode

that said Scott Flickr offers the capable to map your images. ie you can assign your photos a location on the map. Should make it a lot easier for folks to know where the images were taken

Postby Scott Dorn on Mon Mar 26, 2007 10:27 pm

If I get an address wrong everyone set me straight. However on daily digital I want to see some creative photography. Example parade, protests etc Building essays wih the Photo I would like to see in the Dallas history section. I will throw up a random photo and you all will get the idea.
Guy look at what www.dallasmetropolis.com is doing for an idea.

[quote="Scott Dorn"]Randy Took this one of me On a shoot at Dallas High School

Excuse my ignorance, but I have no idea what "Dallas High School" is/was known as. Where is it? What was the more well known name?

I first thought of Crozier Tech, but I attended there during two Summer sessions and it doesn't look like the entrance in the photo, in my memory. .........I can read the name on the photo itself, but just can't place the school.

posting images

Postby Peterk on Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:13 am

Rather than appending a new image at the bottom of the page why not just create a new post each day that way you create a thread for that image. otherwise in its current configuration one must scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see the new image. Each new post would have as the subject the name of the structure and its location.

just a suggestion :)

Dallas High School

Postby Peterk on Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:18 am

Fred
Dallas High School is what many of us know as Crozier Tech located on Bryan St across from the Plaza of the Americas. it was the original high school for Dallas constructed in 1907. That is why North Dallas High was named "North Dallas" so as to distinguish it from Dallas High
eventual Crozier Tech became the Business Magnet School.

Peter I can use thumbnails that might help.
I don't rally like those though. You have to click each photo to see it bigger.
Does this answer your question?

fred Dallas High was the original name of the school when is was built in 1908, since Crozier tech is gone now. I call it Dallas High.

Scott;

Thank you for all of your contributions; in particular, the picture of Old Parkland Hospital's smokestack. That was one of those sites I wanted to investigate "one of these days", but that day never came.

thumbnails etc

Postby Peterk on Tue Mar 27, 2007 10:43 am

Scott asked "I can use thumbnails that might help.

thumbnails would be nice. some of the images are truly large and makes it hard to view. at least with a thumbnail I can select to open in a new tab or window. but if everyone else is kewl with the larger images than thats fine with me.

now think about this. so far this thread is has comments related to two different images, the Dallas high and Parkland images. If you create a new post each day with only one image then all comments relate to that one image. the problem with this forum is that replies get posted to the bottom and it makes it difficult to know what a reply may refer to.

these are just suggestions that I think would make it easier for folks

Peter remember this the daily digital. I am using this thread for random shots.
and creative photos. I will do individual topics on the buildings with their histories. I will take some time.
Again look how dallasmeteroplis.com has the daily digital it in the urban photo section on thier forum. It wil explain things better.
